    Students will be able to understand character motivations and practice written and oral argument skills

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.3; CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.4

    Structure:

    Announce to students that they will participate in a debate. The question is: Were Medea’s actions justified?

    Split the class into three groups: pro-Medea, anti-Medea, and a jury. The pro- and anti-Medea groups should work together to write a statement explaining their position.
