Students should use both traditional and digital resources to conduct additional research. In particular, as outlined in Day One Activity: Very Superstitious, students should use online resources to familiarize themselves with the history of the Salem Witch Trials, especially as they are connected with Hawthorne himself. Because the house is such a central aspect of the novel, students should, if possible, use online resources to explore the real Turner-Ingersoll Mansion. Besides looking up photos, as suggested as a homework item, there are resources available to take virtual tours of the house.
