Chapter 9: In the Witch’s House
Edmund makes his way to the Witch’s house, thinking the whole time of how angry he is at Peter, and how he will become King and put Peter in his place. The snow makes his journey slippery and difficult, and he almost turns back but he convinces himself to keep going by imagining how, as King, he will put new roads in Narnia.
When he finally arrives at the Witch’s palace, he finds that the courtyard is full of statues–creatures the Witch has turned to stone. At first, he believes that a stone lion he sees is alive, but realizes it is stone when he sees that it is covered in snow. He tries to step over what he...
