    Objective:

    Prewrite and begin drafting an orgininal dystopic or science fiction short story.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.9-10.3

    Structure:

    Tell students that they will be crafting their own dystopic short story based on elements in The Maze Runner. Ask students to define the term dystopia. If students need help, explain that a "dystopia" (an unfavorable or wretched state of existence) is the opposite of a "utopia" (a perfect or favorable society or existence).
