The Maze Runner is the first book in The Maze Runner trilogy. The other books include The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure. James Dashner also wrote a prequel to the series entitled The Kill Order, which details the devastation that consumes the world, and a soon to be released The Fever Code prequel that details the creation of the Maze trials.
Dashner revealed that two books, Lord of the Flies by William Golding and Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, influenced The Maze Runner series.
