Todd Strasser, also known as Morton Rhue, is a prolific writer of books for children and young adults. Growing up in Long Island, Strasser struggled in English classes, though he eventually went on to study literature in college. He published his first book, Angel Dust Blues, in 1978, and divided his time between writing and managing his fortune cookie company until 1990.
In 1981, Strasser came up with his pen name, Morton Rhue, at the request of his publisher, who felt publishing two novels under the same name would diminish sales.
