What is significant about the confusion relating to Helen's tears and grief?
Lafew—and, it seems, the Countess—assume(s) that Helen's tears are in remembrance of her own late father, or perhaps the late Count. However, Helen quickly reveals to the audience that her tears over Bertram's departure, because she is in love with him. This shows us right away that Helen's love for Bertram exceeds many of the other challenges and tragedies in her life.
