Chapter 11 - Enzymatic Catalysis - Exercises - Page 359: 30

Answer

The lysosome is the organelle in the cell which have many digestive enzymes. These enzyme work in the acidic ph that 5 that is the pH present in the lysosome. Therefore the enzyme present in the lysosome are acid-dependent enzymes. This property of these enzymes protect the cell from the destructive power of the enzyme because every enzyme work at optimum pH so if they are released from lysosome these enzyme will not work because outside the lysosome the pH is not acidic so the enzyme will become non-functional.
